How much does it cost to stay at Matai Peak Lodge?

Rates depend on the time of year you choose to visit us. Please see below our confirmed rates out to May 2025.

Matai Peak Lodge can accommodate up to 4 guests. Additional adults are $150, per night.

How do I make a reservation?

I have booked my stay, where do I go when I arrive?

Please contact us on +64 27 442 1149 to co-ordinate with us on the day of your arrival.
When you arrive, you will meet your host at the Te Mania Homestead, located at 290 Conway Flat Road, Cheviot. From here, you will be checked-in and transported to the lodge. Further instructions will be given to you on your confirmation email.
If you are travelling via helicopter, we will directly co-ordinate your arrival with the helicopter company. If travelling from Christchurch, we recommend Christchurch Helicopters. If travelling from Kaikoura, we recommend South Pacific Helicopters.

Can I drive to the lodge?

The lodge is located up a steep farm track that is only accessable by 4WD. If you do not have a 4WD vehicle, you will meet us at our Te Mania Homestead (264 Conway Flat Road) and we will escort you up and down at no extra charge. Is the lodge wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately due to the remoteness of our location, the lodge is not wheelchair accessible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Is there WIFI available?

There is network phone reception and WIFI. However, we encourage our guests to disconnect, switch off and enjoy nature.


When is check-in and check-out?

Check-in time is from 2.00PM and check-out at 10.00AM

What food and beverages are included in my stay at the lodge?

  • Champagne and cheese board on arrival

  • Access to minibar items such as mineral water, soft drinks, fruit juices, light snacks, tea and coffee

  • A DIY breakfast hamper to create your own breakfast. A choice between continental or cooked is available

Dinner is optional and can be provided at an extra cost of $50 PP. Otherwise feel free to bring your own food as we have a fully equipped kitchen.
Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

What should I pack for my stay?

Even in summer it is advised to bring a few warm layers to enjoy your time outside as New Zealand is known for its unpredictable weather.
Pack walking shoes to explore the surrounding native bush and farm land, books to lounge with in bed and board games to enjoy by the fire.
